The Complex
Our complex is comprised of four red brick six-story buildings built in the early 1950s containing studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments, each with one bathroom. Each building has a distinctly different lobby with marble terrazzo floors and the apartment layouts are unique to each building; however, all apartments feature hardwood floors, tilt-out windows, eat-in windowed kitchens and windowed bathrooms. There are two wings in each building with six apartments per floor per wing for a total of 72 apartments per building (294 apartments total in the complex). All one- and two- bedroom apartments have foyers, some of which are large enough to be used as dining areas or home offices.
Building Amenities
Lobby mail pick-up – Monday through Saturday
Laundry rooms - in the basement of each building with washers and driers and folding tables – open daily from 8AM until 11PM (last wash at 10PM)

Parking – there is parking in each building at $125 per month /there is currently a waiting list in all four garages.
Storage Facilities – limited number of units in each building provided by Bargold Storage at a monthly fee – there is currently a waiting list. Please contact Bargold directly at (718) 247-7000.
Superintendent on Property – our Superintendent, Andi Proko, resides in our community and oversees a maintenance and porterage staff of five.
Extermination Service – the exterminator services the building monthly. If you want your apartment serviced, please sign up on the sheet provided on the bulletin board in the Lobby of your building. You must be home at the time of service to let the exterminator in.
Bike Storage – there are bike racks available in the basements of 83-83-118-60 and 83-75 on a complimentary basis ($10 key fee). Please fill out form on documents page and submit to the Superintendent if you are interested in obtaining a space.
Key Storage – A lock box is kept in the Super’s office should you wish the building to have a copy of your apartment keys for use in case of an emergency. Please see the Super for the appropriate form if you wish to do this.

Pet Policy
We are a pet-friendly community but do require all dogs to be registered for a yearly fee of $60 per dog and owners to submit all up to date immunization records.
Pet owners are expected to curb their pets outside of the complex’s gates and to clean up after their pets in accordance with the House Rules.
Transportation
The Gates is conveniently located ½ a block from the Q10 bus to the Union Turnpike Subway (E&F subway line) and JFK airport as well as the QM18 weekday Express Bus into Manhattan and 2½ blocks to the Kew Gardens LIRR station for the 18-minute ride into Penn Station. The Q54 bus on Metropolitan Avenue travels the length of Metropolitan Avenue from 169th Street in Jamaica in the east (with stops at the Jamaica LIRR station at Sutphin Boulevard for transfer to the Train to the Plane to JFK) terminating in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to the west, with stops at the Atlas Mall in Glendale. Those with vehicular access will also enjoy the proximity to several major highways, including the Grand Central Parkway, the Jackie Robinson Parkway, Van Wyck Expressway as well as Union Turnpike and Woodhaven and Queens Boulevards.
